WE DIG FOSSILS!! Fourth Grade had an awesome experience today during Mrs. Redden’s science class! You probably saw the story on KTEN of Holly Keeler and her family finding fossil remains in their back yard last week. Holly and her family brought some fossils and a lot of knowledge to the classroom today! Sam Noble Museum staff and a Paleontologist came down to their land in Atoka Co this past weekend to excavate! Based on their knowledge from this previous weekend, they believe they could have found a Deinonychus and possibly a Tenontosaurus! There are more excavations planned in the near future to hopefully learn more. Holly also brought each student a Mud Bubble Fossil (Septarian Nodule) to keep. These are known to be between 50-70 million years old!! What an exciting day in Fourth Grade! Thank you, Holly!!

BASEBALL GAME CANCELED The home HS Baseball game scheduled for today has been canceled.

SOFTBALL GAME CANCELED The softball game scheduled for tonight at Kingston has been cancelled.

NO AFTER SCHOO TODAY Due to the possibility of inclement weather forecast for later today, there will be no after school program for Emerson Elementary.

VOTE TOMORROW This is a reminder to let your voice be heard by voting tomorrow, April 2.

BAND "MEAL DEAL" The band will be selling a meal deal on Wednesday, April 3rd, 2024, from 11:30am to 12:45pm. The meal deal is hamburgers or hotdogs, chips, dessert, and drink for $10. We will be set up by the snack shack. Help support our band!

PLEASE VOTE We go to the polls Tuesday, April 2. We have local elections and a bond issue on the ballot. We encourage you to vote and to remind others to vote. We hope the community would support the school bond. Thank you.

COALGATE FFA PLANT SALE Coalgate FFA members have been working hard to prepare for our plant sale! We have many different varieties of flowers as well as many tomato plants and bell peppers, jalapeno's and habenero peppers. Our sale will be Friday, April 5th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the ag building and greenhouse. Thank you to everyone for your support!

AFTER SCHOOL NOTIFICATION There will be no After School program on Thursday, March 28, due to Easter Egg Hunts/Parties.

COALGATE CONCERT BAND The Pride of Coalgate Concert Band received straight 2’s (Excellent) on stage and a 2 (Excellent) in sightreading today at OSSAA District Band Contest! The Pride made a 3 (Good) last year so this is a huge accomplishment to improve to the next level in just one year!! The students played so well today and we are extremely proud of them! The future is very bright for this group and we are so excited for it!!

BOND INFORMATION Coalgate Public Schools 2024 School Bond Information • Election will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 for registered voters in the Coalgate School District Only. • The Bond issued will provide funds to replace HVAC systems at the elementary school with energy efficient models, renovate the existing band building, and construct a new 8 lane track with field events. • The Elementary School HVAC System needs to be upgraded to a more energy efficient model, due to most units being over 28 years old. • The Band Building renovation will bring the building into a space that has better acoustics, provides storage for instruments, and will meet ADA requirements. • Prevent the need for Coalgate Track Team & students to be bussed to other tracks for practice sessions. • Our Community will be able to use the track for walking & exercising, when not being used for school events. • The School Bond is for 3 years at $2.6-million- dollars. • The School Bond would be a No Tax Increase, due to the previous school bond ending & the new bond would be taking its place. • Construction could possibly start as early as September 2024. Please Vote on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.

STATE CHAMPIONSHIP POWERLIFTING MEET Koda Wainscot and Landon Hopkins will represent Coalgate at the state championships.

There will not be 21st Century Afterschool today, March 14, due to inclement weather approaching.

TRACK CANCELLATION Because of possible severe weather moving in, the track team will not be traveling to Velma Alma today. Another meet will be scheduled to replace this one.
