Coalgate Wallace Byrd Middle School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Middle School Science Teacher to join our faculty for the 2026-2027 school year. We are looking for an educator committed to fostering scientific inquiry and guiding students toward academic excellence.

Role Description

In this role, you will develop and deliver engaging lesson plans tailored to middle school students. You will be responsible for conducting hands-on lab experiments, assessing student performance, and maintaining an organized classroom environment that encourages curiosity and critical thinking.

Qualifications

Required: Must be certified (or currently in the process of obtaining certification) in a Middle School Science Subject Area.

Emerson Elementary Awards Assembly

🚨ELEMENTARY PARENTS🚨 Reminder: May 8th was the last day of Afterschool. This week there will be no Afterschool Program.

Congratulations! Angela Hughes, Coalgate High School Principal, has been elected to represent Coal, Atoka, and Pontotoc Counties' secondary principals on the Executive Board of the Oklahoma Association of Secondary School Principals for a two year term beginning July 1, 2026.

Axel McNutt has been selected to the 2026 Engineering Summer Bridge Program at the University of Oklahoma. This year marked the most competitive applicant pool in the 20-year history of the ESB program, with 159 outstanding applicants from across the globe. Congratulations, Axel!

The 5th and 6th grade band attended Arbuckle Funfest today and received straight superior ratings on stage! They have received superior ratings at all contests this year which is the first time in program history to do so! I am so proud of them! The future is bright for these students and the program! It’s a great day to be a wildcat!

🚨 Track State Send Off today at 3pm. Help us send Destiny, Davis, and Carson off to the State Track Meet. Destiny will High Jump Friday at 9:30 AM. Carson will run the 110m hurdles prelims Friday at 2:15 PM. Davis will long jump Saturday morning at 9:30 AM. It’s always a great day to be a Wildcat!

Coalgate Public schools kicked off Teacher Appreciation Week with Sonic donating drinks for our amazing teachers. Also, Coal County General Hospital dropped by with some giant Great American cookies to share!

🚨 Congratulations to Destiny Grant, Davis Grant, and Carson Viss for qualifying for the State Track Meet! They competed at Regionals in Madill this weekend and qualified! Destiny Grant placed 2nd in High Jump with a jump of 4’10”. Davis Grant placed 3rd in Long Jump with a jump of 20’1”. Carson Viss placed 5th in 110 Hurdles with a time of 17.54. They will compete at the State Track Meet May 8th-9th at Western Heights! Always a Great Day to be a Wildcat!

🥎 The Wildcats STATE send off will be TODAY May 4th at 2:30. They will depart from the HS gym! The Lady Cats will compete at the State Tournament at Firelake in Shawnee Tuesday May 5th! Heartland Music Festival Results- Yesterday and Today has been the absolutely best days! Yesterday we started the day at the science museum, went to the mall, ate dinner at the hotel, and spent quality time together making memories! Today the students had their best performance of the year! Below are the results of the festival: Straight ones on stage! With that we received the sweepstakes award! Individual awards for musicianship are Tuba (Sawyer), Tristan (Bells), Bari Sax (Solomon), Bass Clarinet(Paisly), Euphonium (Wesley), Flute Soli (Marisol and Felicity)! Section Awards- French Horns, All Percussionist, and the trumpet section! We also won the Overall Outstanding Achievement Award from the performance site! I’m so proud of this group! This concludes our contests for the year! It has been a great year! Our final Spring Music Department Concert is Monday May 4th, 2026 at 6pm! You don’t want to miss this concert! We hope to see you there! Last thing- It’s a Great Day to be a Wildcat!

The Congressional Art Competition is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation and our District. The 2026 theme for Oklahoma’s 2nd Congressional District is: “Celebrating 250 Years of America” The competition winners from each District will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol.
