PLAYGROUND BUILD, PART 2

JALAPENO JELLY!!
We had jalapeños donated from a local garden, and canning jars donated from the community. The 7th and 8th graders spent the last few days making jalapeño jelly.

VETERANS' DAY LUNCHEON
On Veterans' Day, Coalgate Schools and students welcomed veterans to a luncheon in their honor. The choir, the band, and elementary students sang and played for them to show our appreciation for their service. Afterwards, a lunch was provided by First Bank. Included are some pictures. To view videos of the day's events, please visit the school's website.

BUILDING NEW PLAYGROUND
After raising money for several years, the time for the vision of new playground to become a reality arrived. It was up to the community to construct the new playground in 5 days. It was an amazing experience as people from all walks of live, from all skill levels, and from all ages came together.
We are proud of the students and faculty who helped with this project. Students worked long hours in some very unruly weather at times. The administration not only supported allowing teachers and students to volunteer, but the administration was present also.
These are some of the pictures of the students and faculty who participated. It is by no means all who were there. To see more pictures, please check out the school's website.
We look forward to seeing the new playground finished.

BUILDING NEW PLAYGROUND
I am proud of these students! They worked so hard, despite the rain and the cold. I was in a group with Anna, Sammy, Annabelle, & Isabella and they each took their job seriously and worked for hours. They really stepped up and used tools that were new to them. I worked in the tent, but I saw several other students out in the rain working and moving materials even though they were drenched. I know they will always remember this project, especially when they look at the park and know they helped to create it. I am glad I volunteered even though my body was tired, and I am grateful for the experience. One of the volunteers asked what group we were with, and she could not believe that the Coalgate High School students still volunteered with the weather conditions. She was pleasantly surprised and asked to get a group picture. I liked using a drill for the first time, and I think I can see why men love tools. Christina Rivas

THANK YOU!!
Thank you just doesn’t seem adequate for all the support we received this year for our 2023 Fall Festival. It is humbling to see the support of our administration, the teachers, students, parents, and community.
Thank you so much to all the parents who contributed items for our gift baskets in the PreK through the sixth grade. The response was overwhelming; much more than we expected. We were more than grateful for all that you contributed. You were a large part of the success of the Bingo.
Thank you to the parents who provided items for the cake walk. Those items made the cake walk a delectably delightful event.
A very special thank you to all those listed below who provided prizes for the event. Our Fall Festival is not possible without the support of you the community.
Thank you to the teachers, and staff who give of their time, donate prizes and money, to make this festival a success. You are such a great team!
Most of all, thank you to all the people who came out and joined the fun. You are the reason this festival continues; you are the reason for its success!
If anyone has been forgotten, please forgive us. It definitely is not intentional, and we really do appreciate you.

SHAKESPEARE!!
Coalgate 7-12 students had the pleasure of watching a live performance by the Oklahoma Shakespeare Theater Co. as they performed a light-hearted version of "A Midsummer Night's Dream." A grant from The Carolyn Watson Rural Foundation allowed them to visit schools in our area free of charge to the districts. Their goal was to make Shakespeare less intimidating in the classroom. It was a huge success and the students and staff loved it!
