Suzan Cox

3rd Grade Math Teacher

Suzan Cox brings 27 years of teaching experience to her role as 3rd Grade Math Teacher, with the last 17 years spent serving the students of Tushka Elementary. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah and is certified in both Language Arts and Science.

Suzan chose to become a teacher because of the joy and fulfillment that comes from helping children learn and grow. “There is nothing more rewarding than witnessing the spark in a child’s eyes when they grasp a new concept for the first time,” she says. “Teaching isn’t just a profession for me—it’s a calling.”

She is passionate about creating a classroom environment where all students feel valued, supported, and empowered to succeed. Her philosophy centers on the belief that every child can learn and brings unique strengths and perspectives to the classroom.

This school year, Suzan is especially excited to get to know her new students and help them set and reach their academic goals.

Originally from Coal County and a graduate of Tupelo High School, Suzan now enjoys spending time with her two adult children, Sarah and Aaron, and is a proud grandmother to Khloe, Victoria, and River. Outside the classroom, she enjoys fishing, going to church, and singing—a talent that earned her a college scholarship.

Fun Fact: Suzan attended college on a singing scholarship and still loves to sing.
