My name is Lisa Girten. I am a teacher of 24 years. I became a teacher because I wanted to make a difference. I love my job and enjoy the children so much. I graduated from Afton High School. I got my Associate degree from NEO A&M college in Miami, Oklahoma. I recieved my Bachelors degree from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Aka. Gods Country! I have a Reading Recovery Certification from Texas Womens University. Reading is my passion!
I am married to Jim Girten and together we have four children. Justin who lives in Tulsa, Abby who lives in Pryor, Kendall lives here in Coalgate, and Maurica in Coalgate also. I have one God Daughter, Danielle Bauer and she lives in Grove, Oklahoma. We have 8 grandchildren. Wow!
I love to be outside all I can, and any activity with my family. I have a wonderful family and enjoy every minute with them. I have been very blessed in my life and feel very fortunate to have the people surrounding me that I do!
I believe each child on this earth has the right and should have the opportunity to learn. I believe all learn in a different way and it is my job as an educator to find that way. A child is our most precious resource and we have a responsibility to expand on that as educators. I love my job and I love my students. I treat them as if they are mine and look out for each of their interest.
I want to approach each day as if it is my first one to step in the door. I never want to become comfortable so I always look for ways to improve my teaching. I am never scared to try new things in the classroom. Some will fail but we will have learned from it. I believe we should have a good time while we learn and grow!
