2017-18 Financial Aid Information
Seniors and Senior Parents:
The priority state deadline for OTAG/Oklahoma Promise has changed. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) becomes available OCTOBER 1, 2018 for students planning on enrolling in college anytime between July 1, 2019 and June 30, 2020. (NOTE: Families will use 2017 tax returns to complete the form.)
Students planning on attending a technical school, college or university next fall need to fill out the FAFSA as soon as possible this year. With a 16% cut in funding of state aid programs, the longer students wait to complete the FAFSA after October 1st, the less likely they are to receive the funding as awarding will be made until the money runs out.
Students and parents should apply for a FAFSA ID now to be ready when the application opens on October 1st. The website is https://fsaid.ed.gov/npas/index.htm.
Many technical schools, colleges and scholarship programs are now requiring that a student apply for financial aid prior to offering financial assistance. Students who do not apply for the FAFSA will not be considered for the financial assistance/scholarships offered.
